I am not sure if you are following the massive flooding happening in New Brunswick right now, but it’s still rising. This flood has closed the Trans Canada Highway, all access roads into my hometown, and the flooding and destruction of homes is continuing to rise as fast as the water is.
In the Fredericton area, the water has started to level out, but the flooding is making its way south to the St. John area now. The crest was expected to happen today in Fredericton, plateau for a few days and start to recede after that.
One of our artists, Andrea Donovan, has been dealing with flooding around her home for the past 10 days. Her house has been flooding for almost a week, and we’re not just talking the basement. Andrea’s photography studio has been destroyed and she is now only able to do on-site photography. It will be a long process waiting for the water to recede and completely assess the damage to her home and studio space.
Even in the destruction Andrea is able to find the beauty.
I consider our gallery a family, Andrea Donovan is one of our family members. She was the first artist to put her trust in our plan and open Whisper Wind Gallery. I encourage to you to have a look at her beautiful photography both on our website and hers.
It won't be a quick fix to get Andrea's photography studio up and running again and we hope to help her continue doing what she loves to do. We will be dedicating our Featured Art page to A Donovan Photography starting May 8th for two weeks so we can showcase the beautiful art she captures.
All photography on this post has been taken by Andrea Donovan.
